WENDY potato variety is a medium-early, high-yielding potato variety derived from the Gala variety. These potatoes are characterized by fast growth and excellent utilization properties, therefore they are particularly suitable for the production of semi-finished products and shaving.
WENDY potatoes are characterized by a very low tendency to darken, which is especially valuable when potatoes are used for food production. The plants grow stably and healthily, and their vegetation period lasts up to 90 days, so these potatoes are well suited to various climatic conditions and soils. It is recommended to water them and plant them 2-3 cm deeper.
The variety has excellent storage potential - they remain fresh for a long time, therefore they are ideal for both fresh consumption and long-term storage. Potatoes have a clearly expressed vegetative dormancy period and slow germination, therefore it is recommended to “awaken” them before planting.
Planting and fertilization recommendations:
Planting: the distance between tubers depends on the soil type - on light soils, a distance of 34 cm between tubers is recommended, and on heavy soils - 32 cm, and between rows - 75 cm.
Fertilization: it is recommended to fertilize several times during the leaves with nitrogen compounds (140-160 kg/ha), as well as phosphorus (P2O5 80-100 kg/ha), potassium (K2O 250-300 kg/ha) and magnesium (MgO 80-100 kg/ha).
This variety is well suited to all soils, and the number of tubers per 1 ha with standard sorting ranges from 39,000 (on light soils) to 42,000 (on heavy soils). WENDY is an ideal choice if you are looking for high yields and excellent consumption properties.
